Braintree Women’s Aid recognises the uncertainty facing women moving from their own home and into the unknown territory of refuge accommodation, and are committed to providing an environment which is clean and well cared for, with furnishings that are in good condition and comfortable.

Staff work hard within the refuge setting to encourage a calm, positive, friendly atmosphere, and a service which is user focussed, empowering and non-judgemental.

We have fully qualified and specially trained staff to work with our child residents. The range of activities and play sessions provided are designed to be age, capability and culturally sensitive, and include:

  • arranging trips and outings
  • liaison with other child related agencies
  • accessing education facilities
  • providing Key Work support for children
